Due to unstable power quality, it often causes hardware damage, crashes, and loss of important data in computer equipment. Therefore, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) has gradually become an indispensable standard equipment when purchasing computer equipment. However, how to choose UPS often troubles users, and the important component of UPS power supply is the battery. To choose a good UPS, it is necessary to choose a good and branded UPS battery.
The following methods teach you how to choose: 1. Whether it is a UPS dedicated battery. There are many types of sealed lead-acid batteries, and the production points and performance characteristics of different types of batteries are different; The fixed type battery equipped with UPS is a wet charged product, which requires small self discharge, long float life, and strong overcharge resistance; The starting type batteries used in automobiles and other industries are ready to use products, which focus on dry load high current starting performance and cycle performance; Therefore, when selecting batteries for UPS systems, the first thing to pay attention to is whether they are UPS dedicated batteries.
2. Appearance inspection: Due to the difficulty in distinguishing the quality of the battery without a period of use, a direct impression can only be obtained from the appearance before purchase. Buyers should check whether the outer packaging of the battery is sturdy and exquisite, whether the battery shell and connecting terminals are clean and bright, whether the sealing is good, whether the terminal welding is firm, whether there is leakage, deformation, cracking, corrosion, etc., all of which can reflect the quality of the battery from one aspect.
3. Charging and discharging tests can be conducted to determine whether the capacity of a double decker battery has reached its nominal value. Newly purchased double decker batteries can be continuously charged for more than 8 hours and then subjected to a discharge test with a resistive load of a certain resistance value. During discharge, the terminal voltage of the battery should be measured at regular intervals, and a ratio chart of the terminal voltage decrease over time should be drawn based on this. Batteries with slower voltage drops are preferred.
4. Consistency testing: The battery pack equipped in the UPS system generally operates in a float charging state, and the VRLA battery is a cathode absorption system. Within the first 6 months of use, the float charging voltage may be unstable, which is a normal phenomenon and will gradually balance; After 6 months, test the float charging voltage of each battery in the double boarding battery pack again, and the difference should not exceed 10mV. The better the consistency, the better the quality and longer the service life of the battery. UPS batteries are an indispensable and important part of UPS, and their maintenance methods cannot be ignored. The following four maintenance methods: (1) Check the float voltage of each battery cell, the temperature of the battery shell or pole once a quarter. If the float voltage rises or the temperature is too high, it should be handled according to the instructions or reported to the manufacturer for further action. (2) Perform capacity discharge once a year or every two years. If the capacity is insufficient, it should be promptly reported to the manufacturer for handling. (3) It is not recommended to charge evenly during normal times. After the battery is discharged or there is a power outage due to an accident, the management personnel should promptly go to the battery room to evenly charge the battery and check the charging current of the charger to prevent excessive charging current. (4) Every six months or regularly check whether the connecting bolts of the pole are loose, clean the dust on the battery, especially the dust on the pole and connecting strip, to prevent battery leakage or grounding. At the same time, observe whether there are any abnormalities in the appearance of the battery. If there are any abnormalities, they should be dealt with in a timely manner.
